This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are autistic and have severe learning difficulties. Most of their learning is done by using technology and hands-on activities to help relieve their anxiety. They enjoy doing most of their work on their iPad. My students are hands-on learners who enjoy staying busy​ while having fun.

We are located in a high-poverty area.

My students are from different grade levels from kindergarten to fifth grade this year. Every day with my students is a different day and full of many surprises.

My Project

Help me get my student new sensory break items that they can enjoy together.

Teaching students with Autism to work together with puzzles and other sensory related items can help boost their social skills.

During break time, most students want to stay glued to their ipads or watch a movie. These items will give them more opportunities to work together an have fun while getting the sensory break they are in need of. Any type of sensory item that has a different feel to it, or smell can be beneficial. Puzzles are relaxing to my students and I would love to have more of them. I also have a couple of students working on learning how to tie their own shoes, and break time would be a great time to work together to learn how to do that as well.
