My scholars are IB students at an urban inner-city school. Our curriculum is both diverse and rigorous. We strive to provide high-quality education to students from all walks of life.
My classroom is project-based and scholars lead their own learning with guidance and examples from both me and other professionals in the field.
Fulfilling goals set by them for them help my scholars learn the importance of independence and free thinking.
My students will be focusing on preparing for the next step, the real world of college and career. The skills that the U.S. Dept. of
Education says students need to be globally competitive are critical thinking, multimedia communication, collaboration and complex problem-solving.
All these skills are embedded in Media Studies projects – which give kids the chance to create, explore and discover THEIR ideas, using THEIR voice, in THEIR communities.

With the microphones and recording equipment young communicators in Student Media classes will be part of a discussion of issues that matter to them. They will write scripts for a podcast and then each will be recorded and presented via the student-website and on social media.
