My students need snacks such as Minute Maid Orange Juice and Chex MIx to stave off hunger daily. This will allow them to focus on their lesson versus their growling bellies.
In our class, we share a vision with goals of how we want to grow together. The students' classroom Social Contract includes their desire to "strive for excellence." That is what we do, but we face the challenge of very limited resources.
In our school district, we believe in preparing our students for the 21st Century regardless of their background or circumstances.
We are a Title I school and have the highest number of ESOL students in our area. Our students are dedicated to growing as learners every single day!
My Project
Having daily snacks for my students will help to alleviate their fears and frustrations created by their hunger. I teach in a predominately impoverished community. Because of this fact, it is a daily struggle finding (funding) enough sustenance to keep them energized.
You would be amazed at how much of a difference a simple bag Chex Mix, or a small bottle of orange juice will make in the life of my boys and girls.
With your donation(s), you will give deserving students a much needed chance to succeed.
Research clearly shows that a hungry child will not learn. I know this fact to be true from first hand experience. I also know, from first hand experience, that the generosity from donors such as you has allowed my kids to flourish emotionally and academically.
