My students are a dynamic group of motivated and deserving third and fourth grade students primarily from low-income households. It is a self-contained class for students will learning and language disabilities and we work together on making learning fun and accessible to all types of learning.
The children have a variety of learning challenges, but they are a hard-working group and respond well to positive reinforcements and feedback.
Because they each have very individualized needs, I try to make the learning accessible by utilizing a variety of learning tools that address a variety of learning styles.
My students would benefit greatly from the many iPad apps that can be utilized for skills practice, exploring new concepts and ideas, and presenting ideas in a new and creative way. Unfortunately, my students are missing out on many learning adventures because we lack an iPad.
An iPad would give students access to many apps that allow children to explore, learn, and create - independently or with partners.
I want my students to practice geography with Stack the States and Google Earth, present creative biography reports with Celebrity Voice Changer, explore coding with Tynker, and more.
My class is made up of 14 students who have special needs, but are eager to learn. They benefit greatly from multi-sensory learning and special apps that engage them and allow them to practice and learn at their own pace. An iPad in our classroom would be shared among them for special projects and also be used in a learning center to supplement lessons. Additionally, it would be used when students have creative ideas that involve learning applications on the iPad.
