Help me give my students the necessary supplies such as wide ruled notebooks, two pocket folders, pencils, and highlighters to take notes, complete activities and stay organized.
I teach mathematics at a public high school in an urban district. My school has approximately 1200 students and about half of the school population is receiving a free or reduced lunch. Students at my school are required to take three years of math. I teach 135 students (mostly juniors) from diverse academic and economic backgrounds.
Despite many differences, my students share a desire to succeed in their academics.
They are determined to learn mathematics through a variety of learning strategies and activities.
My Project
Organization and ability to take good notes is one of the most effective learning strategies for all students in all subject areas. I want to show my students different methods of taking notes such as outlining, Cornell notes, charting and graphing to organize the information given during math class. I also want to teach my students how to organize their notes, handouts, homework assignments and assessments.
Unfortunately, not all of my students have access to essential note-taking supplies.
Notebooks, folders, pens, pencils, erasers, and highlighters are some of the materials that will allow all of my students to fully participate in this activity.
