This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Being a teacher in an inner city school can be challenging. Many of my third grade students often are cared for by older siblings or neighbors. They are left to their own devices when dealing with other students. They have not been taught the proper way to interact when problems arrive.
We are a public school in Pennsylvania, located in a major metropolis.
I have a bright, interesting rainbow of students. Our state funding has been drastically cut for our public schools. We are in need of help to do the things other districts take for granted. We recently held a bake sale to get the supplies we need for our service learning project which is a requirement for all third graders in our district.
My Project
Providing funding for our field trip to see "Bully" will help us to ensure all our students can attend this valuable lesson. As mentioned earlier, many of our students do not have the proper role models or parental supervision to help them make proper decisions. This movie viewing will help them see how bullying affects others.
Hopefully by supporting our project, you can make a real change, not only for my kids but for future generations.
Bullying is a major problem in school age children. If you weren't bullied as a child, you probably witnessed some one being bullied. You can help us take a stand against it.
