I have 24 students in my classroom with very different personalities and learning styles. I want to continue to focus on individual needs by implementing blended learning so my students are able to learn with a more personalized approach so that each of them can grow to his or her fullest potential.
I love opportunities to build community in my classroom!
Kids at this age are creative and imaginative, full of wonder, excited about learning new concepts and ideas, and open to friendships. In my opinion, 4th grade is the best grade level to teach.
Research has proven that the blended learning approach, combined with flexible seating options, creates optimal learner engagement. In order to create the best learning environment for my students, I'd like to offer seating preferences other than our typical desk and chair. My current students, as well as future students, will benefit greatly from this project.
My Project
Throughout the day, students move throughout our room, participating in small group activities. Many of those activities take place at a small group table, where there is often a student chosen who will lead discussions, share ideas, be a good role model for others, and practice leadership skills.
Every student in my classroom has the opportunity to shine throughout the year.
I'd like a special chair, designated for my leaders to use at our small group table. This chair will be used throughout the day as we move through blended learning activities. Giving students a choice as to path and place in the classroom as we learn helps with decision making and autonomy.
