Kindergarten children love to be read to, and my full day kindergarten class is no different. In our classroom, we have quiet reading time, partner reading time, and many read-alouds during the day. My students love the books we share and often want to take them home so mommy or daddy can read to them at night. Herein lies the problem. Most of my students live in low-income, Spanish-speaking homes. The parents are not good reading role models. I would love to be able to send home books on tape so the parents and the children can enjoy the books together. Other siblings in the home will benefit as well. I would like to receive the Lakeshore Classroom Classics Cassette Read-Alongs sets 1 - 6 and four student cassette players (with AC adaptors) so that four students each day can take home books on tape. This will ensure that every student can take books home once a week. My students and I thank you in advance for providing us with these materials so we can expand our love of reading to our homes.
