This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are kindergartners that love to learn.
My students live in the inner city and don't have much experience with life outside the city.
They need exposure to life outside of the city. Many of my students have never left the city. They have never been exposed to farms, open spaces, the beach or forests.
They are typical kindergartners who are active and love to learn through play. Not all of my students have books at their house to read.
My Project
These magazines can go home with my students each week. They can share what they learn with their families. They can build a library for themselves at home. My students can practice reading at home. My students can share what is learned at school at home.
My students can share what they learn with their little sisters and brothers, dogs, cats, grandparents, parents.
They can communicate what they learned and practice reading at home.
This project will provide a school to home connection that some kindergartens can not articulate. The parents or caregivers can have slice of school at home.
