Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Despite all the adversity they face, my students are always motivated and ready to learn. Unfortunately, my students are growing up in a neighborhood where there is very little inspiration. In hopes of my students not falling into the negativity they are surrounded by, I do my best to maintain a welcoming, safe, and inspiring classroom environment.
Since we have limited resources offered in our school, it is difficult to keep lessons engaging for them.
The majority of my students are English Learners. Although they have not fully mastered the English language, time and time again, my students work hard to excel academically. Therefore, they deserve to have the resources needed to attain a higher level education.
My Project
For homework, my students are given tasks to complete that require cutting, gluing, coloring, and of course, writing. Unfortunately, some of my students do not have the basic supplies needed to complete their homework. In the community I work in, most, if not all, families work hard to make ends meet, and it is difficult to attain basic supplies for their children to complete at-home assignments.
Basic take-home supplies will help my students complete their homework assignments.
The scissors, glue sticks, pencils, erasers, and crayons will give my students the opportunity to continue to practice and retain skills they learn, as they complete their homework. The mini pencil boxes will give my students a place to store their take-home supplies.
