My Students

Like many students from big cities, my students come from diverse backgrounds, and many of them face daily challenges both in and out of the classroom. My goal is to provide my students with an innovative, inviting classroom environment where wonderful learning can occur despite any obstacles they may face.

My students have many, varied and unusual learning styles; differentiation is the name of the game!

We "loop" with each other for two years, which means we start in 3rd grade together, then continue through 4th. This gives all of us an amazing opportunity to become familiar with each other's strengths and weaknesses, allows us to grow together as a helpful and supportive classroom community, and helps us embrace each other's needs and differences.

My Project

Kids are built to move. For many students in my class, sitting still while trying to listen and learn can be a difficult task. A standing desk station will give my students the option to stand up during the school day and move without being a distraction. It may potentially improve their concentration as well.Giving my students the option to stand will empower them and help them feel in control of their own learning environment.

Standing desks will give my energetic students an opportunity to work while stretching their legs, and the swinging footrest bar will let them move as they like.

Making a responsible choice to sit or stand in their classroom will give them the freedom to decide how they want to learn!
