These Central High School band students are the hardest working group I've ever met. They come from various socio-economic backgrounds. They come together every day to make music in a positive environment that they create. They deserve the very best learning environment that can be provided, including new music stands that aren't dented and fading in color. When they perform, they leave the audience entertained and wanting more. These students believe that music is a wonderful and important outlet for their creativity.
Right now, the band's collection of music stands is full of dented and broken stands. Like the ones you see in my classroom photo, these music stands are a safety hazard, as they frequently break while students are using them. The sharp edges on their current music stands are also a safety hazard.
The new music stands we're looking at as replacements are more durable and will hopefully last a very long time.
Students will put their sheet music on these new stands which will be a vital tool when they rehearse and perform their music. The music stands will be used by band and jazz band ensembles. These stands will be used every day.
