Help me give my students flexible seating! I want my students to have the opportunity to use flexible seating, especially those with attention and/or hyperactivity issues. Allowing students the ability to move while learning leads to higher achievement.
I have an amazing group of third graders this year! They are so very bright and are already beginning to think outside the box! Parent involvement with this group is refreshingly high and I hope to make the most of the school/home connection!
I love watching the kids grow both physically and creatively and I'm so very excited to see how far I can take them this year!
Our school is very small, which ultimately leads to us not getting many of the funds that other schools receive. Our students work very hard and often do not have the same resources available to them due to lack of funds.
My Project
I have chosen stability ball chairs with bases to start my classroom with flexible seating options. These chairs allow students the comfort and ability to do their work while also providing stimulating physical activity. I feel that their brains will stay more active and alert if their body is able to move the way little bodies should.
Many of my students have ADD/ADHD.
Offering them a way to focus some of their attention or extra level of activity through bouncing in these seats will help them reach higher achievement in the classroom, as well as decrease problem behaviors such as disruption. Impulse control may be easier to achieve as well when their bodies are being stimulated simultaneously with their minds.
