In our first grade classroom, we have 21 students all coming from different cultural backgrounds. I teach kids ages 6-7 all subjects (reading, math, science, social studies, health). They are learning the basics for reading fluency and math concepts through different types of teaching.
We use a lot of hands on materials and visual prompts to help promote good learning in our classroom.
I enjoy being with these students every day. They teach me a little bit of something each day.
My Project
Flexible seating options in my classroom will help my students to feel more comfortable while boosting their engagement during learning. Students will be able to take charge of their own learning with the choice of their own seat and motivate them to do their best.
Flexible seating will allow students to be a lot more focused and engaged with their work.
The use of ball chairs will help the students get additional wiggles out while they are able to continue working. There are some floor options for students who prefer working on the floor. I have also requested some extra regular chair support like chair bands and wiggle cushions to give additional options to those students who like regular chairs.
