My Students

Our Kindergarten classroom is a diverse group of students that come from low-income households and immigrant families. We are a Co-Teaching classroom with two teachers, general education and special education students. Our students need extra academic and socio-emotional support throughout the day.

Our students are eager to learn but need many supports to achieve their goals.

Having a creative, engaging classroom is extremely important in order for us to meet the needs of all our students. Our goal is to provide an environment where they feel safe, want to learn and try their best.

My Project

Our classroom rug is a spot where my students meet multiple times during the day. Here they need to feel comfortable and have enough space to learn from us and each other.

Not only does our rug provide a spot for group instruction, but students can cozy up to a friend and share a book, grab a clip board and lie on their tummies to write their next book.

Our rug is placed in the front of the classroom and provides students a place of their own. These colorful spots on the rug will also help them find their place without worry!
