This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our students come from diverse backgrounds. Within our four walls, we have many countries, languages, and cultures represented. At our school, 100% of students receive free breakfast and lunch each day, as well as a snack.
The students in my classroom are striving to become readers, writers, and mathematicians.
In first grade, my students are creative and full of questions! We explore the world around us through inquiry, experimentation and observation. We work together to create a collaborative community of learners who truly enjoy the learning process.
My Project
First graders are active, hands-on learners. Through flexible seating, they will be able to take some control of their own learning. Students will have the opportunity to sit where they choose and in seats that beat accommodate their learning needs. I have noticed that my students’ attention to learning and motivation to complete their work is greatly improved when they are given the freedom to sit where they’d like to be seated.
The seating options that I have selected will help my students engage in hands on learning opportunities by allowing them to freely move through the classroom as they need.
