My students need a world map and flexible seating to take them on all the adventures they read about in our classroom library.
This project expired on June 8, 2018.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
Hurricane Harvey put a damper on my students' classroom travel plans this school year. Ireland, Denmark and Texas are just a few of the places my students "travel" to in the various books we read in class. I love to watch them compare and contrast and wonder about the children and the different regions they read about.
They are maturing and obtaining knowledge in the same small town school community that inspired me to be a teacher.
They are dreamers, thinkers, talkers and questioners. They are mini inspirations to themselves and others around them, even if they don't know it yet. They are budding authors, world travelers, scientists, entrepreneurs, teachers. They are our future and I want to give them a great start to their long, successful careers.
In our classroom library, my students are able to gain confidence in their reading abilities and about learning different world cultures.
The addition of flexible seating in our classroom library would give my students a much needed break from their standard classroom desk.
This will give them an opportunity to have comfort as they are engaging in the adventures they are reading about in their books. The world wall map will be provided for them as a tool to use so they can physically locate the variety of settings their books take them to. Having these materials for our library would make the small classroom adventures more like a trip of a lifetime.
