Help me give my students an outlet for their sensory needs by giving them useful tools such as a sensory board, weighted blanket and various sensory specific items.
Our class is full of loving, caring, kindhearted individuals. From the first day of school, they have come to treat each other as family. Every day, I witness acts of kindness and helpfulness from my students. They love to love and be loved! They are curious, eager to learn and explore, always positive and always trying their best to succeed. They are eager and enthusiastic!
Our class is comprised of students from many different backgrounds, which I love because I try to instill in my students the value of being accepting, welcoming and compassionate.
They truly melt my heart and make it such a joy for me to be with them each day!
My Project
There are several students with sensory needs in our class this year. My goal is to create a sensory corner where all students can take a moment to regroup if they are feeling stressed, anxious or overwhelmed. Small items such as fidgets and motion timers will help students to stay focused and on task. Larger items such as an activity board and weighted blanket will give students a chance to step away from a task and reset their minds.
Students are better able to focus when they are calm and engaged, which provides better academic achievement and outcomes.
