Pre-K for All is a program within the New York City Department of Education that provides all four-year-olds with full-day quality education. Pre-K for All gives children stronger reading and math skills.
My site is a Pre-K Center exclusively dedicated to Pre-K students.
We are located in Brooklyn and have a diverse population.
We have a center-based learning model. The students learn by engaging in purposeful play while teachers engage the students in meaningful conversations.
In my program, we like to provide lessons that are interactive so the children can learn by doing.
New York City public schools faced severe budgets cuts this year due to the nationwide pandemic. Our teacher's choice money was completely eliminated from the budget. Teachers use those funds to purchase material they need for their classrooms. In the years past, I would use those funds to purchase books for my classroom.
There is nothing like a real book.
One could argue that most books are available digitally. Yes, this is true but for younger children, I believe real books are better. Even when I have taught remotely I found that students enjoyed real books read aloud as opposed to digital read aloud.
The books I am requesting will add to my classroom collection. All of the books are part of a series. I also find that younger students enjoy books that are part of series. Help me give me students new books.
