This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students come into class every day excited and ready to learn. They are happy and excited to be at school and experience anything they can. I want them to succeed in everything they want to do.
I teach at an inner city, K-12, Title I school where many students receive a free or reduced-price lunch.
Despite the hardships some of my students have, they are willing to learn! Thank you for all your help in inspiring them to do their best!
My Project
My students need an independent reading time revamp. The student book tubs we currently have are not holding up and need to be replaced. Students use these to hold their reading books as well as their folders. We are also in need of some new character education books for our library. I have picked books on skills that second graders usually need practice with. Finally, I am looking for some flashlights to implement "Flashlight Friday." During this time, students will read their books by flashlight. They see this as fun and not school work!
The donations for my project will help increase student engagement as well as cut down on unnecessary distractions caused by pesky broken book tubs.
Students will be able to have a book in their bin focusing on a character education skill they may be learning, all while reading by flashlight.
