Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Having worked with my students remotely since the start of the school year, I can see their drive and passion for learning. Students entered our virtual learning world with smiles and ready to go. I have a group of 27 energetic 2nd graders. They are quick to ask for help when they need it, show up eager to learn, are kind to one another including myself, and many end our virtual meets with, "I miss you". Mind you, we never actually met yet. They have not let this pandemic break down a love of learning and sense of community in our virtual classroom.
My Project
These materials will allow my students writing to come to life! They have been working hard remotely from home, since the start to the school year with limited supplies. They wrote many narratives, but they don't have the materials to turn them into books. With these blank books, students will have the opportunity to create books like an author and celebrate their achievements. The people crayons will give kids the opportunity to create illustrations that represent them. These supplies will create more motivation to build their writing skills in a fun and engaging way.
