We are a wiggly group of four and five-year-olds who love to learn! We are a full day pre-k program in a Title I school. Our district is a low-income district, but we don't let that stop us from learning! Every day, we sing and dance. We talk and we explore. We learn to treat our friends nicely and use our words.
Our classroom is very hands on.
That's how we learn. We use our senses and we talk to our friends about what we are learning. We love to interact with materials and explore the world around us.
Picture books are beautiful pieces of art that draw the reader in. Currently, my classroom picture books are stored on a bookshelf that does not allow for the display of the front cover. Because they cannot see the beautiful artwork and colors, our book nook goes unused by most of my students.
I want my students to "shop" for a good book and get excited about what they see!
A front-facing bookshelf for our Reading Nook will allow my students to see the artwork, get excited about the contents, and make choices about what to read.
