My students need a computer and recording equipment to archive our music.
This project expired on July 7, 2014.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
Each day the students of the Tech Music Department make fantastic music. We would like to start recording that music to keep an archive of our students' achievements!
My students are very dedicated to making music despite the challenges of the inner city.
My students work hard every day to better themselves and the community through making music. The program consists of over 70 students and many come from very low income homes. While the students come from an area with very little, their academics and test scores are rising at an incredible rate. This has created an overall feeling of excellence that has seeped into all aspects of the school, including this band. My students are very dedicated to proving achievement doesn't have to be tied to location.
With this computer and recording package, we will be able to record music for a variety of uses. Students will have the ability to make high quality recordings to use for college and scholarship auditions. They will also be able to have recordings to share with their friends and family and have a concrete example of their achievements. This suite will also allow the entire music department to keep archives of our performances allowing us to examine our sound and learn from it.
While our band department budget remains at $0, my enrollment keeps growing as students become more and more involved in music.
We work diligently to raise money by working with community groups but still struggle to support the cost of a band this large. While it becomes more difficult to supply for these students, they remind me why the work is worth it by cheering "I love band" six times at the end of every rehearsal!
