Help me give my students photo of themselves. It is important for every student to be able to take pride in themselves, as they draw from the photo that I print for each one.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
As an elementary art teacher in a high poverty area, my students have several challenges in their lives. They are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Many students do not have supplies and that prevents them from being ready to learn. My students need supplies in order to be successful!
Many of my students come from single parent households and all of them receive free lunch based on their socioeconomic status.
I want them to experience the arts and connect it to learning. These tools can cause them to grow as 21st century learners. The arts can help them become more confident and believe in themselves as much as I believe in them.
My Project
Self image is so important! I want my students to take pride in themselves and to see that the negative image another might portray of them isn't necessarily TRUTH! Children tend to see themselves through the eyes of others. When students don't have a positive self image, other kids can easily trample their feelings. I want my students can take a look at themselves and see the good things inside of them for themselves, so that they don't let the words of other children hurt their self image. This project will also get my students to write about them self through poetry. It will help them get to know themselves.
