My students need 10 microscopes to enhance our science lessons.
I am a second grade teacher at a wonderful school on the southwest side of Chicago. I have 24 very inquisitive children in my room. My students come from low income families with hard working parents who want only the best for their children. Most of my students are bilingual.
Second grade students love science experiments. They are like little sponges absorbing everything we teach but it is often difficult to give them a full experience without the right materials.
Having individual microscopes would allow my students to go one step farther in our experiments. When we grow seeds they can get a close up look at the soil or compare how each seed is different by seeing each close-up. Microscopes will be a valuable tool that we can use the whole year to enhance our science lessons.
Please consider giving 24 eager to learn second graders a closer look at the world right in our classroom that they can connect to the world around outside our classroom door.
