Take a Closer Look -Part 4

Help me give my students microscopes for science class. When students are introduced to the concept of cells and microorganisms, they need a chance to observe the real thing through a microscope.

Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

At the end of the school year, I want my students to be able to smile as they recall information they have learned in my class. I want them to feel confident in their answer, because I have provided engaging activities for them to remember for the rest of their lives. It is truly a reward when children are confident and eager to show you what they have learned.

My children are very smart and eager to learn.

They love outdoor activities and nature. The school is located along the black-belt region, where schools are generally underfunded. They become very bored with worksheets and textbooks. Our students are sometimes dealt with the shore hand when it comes to hands-on learning and rigorous, engaging activities, where they can move and touch things outside the classroom.

My Project

Reading about something or looking at pictures in a textbook does not give students the first-hand experience they need to really understand and comprehend the microscopic world.

Microscopes will ignite the fire that will enable them to explore and be fascinated by what they see.

Creating their own slides and viewing tiny organisms, they would have never known existed, will be an experience students can remember for years.

Allowing my students the opportunity to become familiar with using a microscope will give them the advantage they need to be more successful, as they continue their science education. We are slowly, but surely, reaching our goal to have a 2:1 ratio in class. Your support is greatly appreciated.
