Help me give my students the skills they need to self regulate and be successful learners. These tools will enable my students to participate successfully in their classrooms.
My students are in grades K4 through 6. Each one of my students have unique needs and abilities. My students must work hard to stay focused and on task. Many have processing problems that require them to work harder to complete assignments and activities than other children causing added frustration. The Take 5 Room provides an escape from environmental and emotional stressors in order to relax, self regulate and return to task. We would greatly appreciate any grants or donations in order to improve our Take 5 Sensory Room to further meet the needs of our students.
I am the Autistic Support/Emotional Support Teacher.
Our Take 5 Room has benefited our students in developing self-regulatory skills and achieving greater success in the classroom. Materials in our Take 5 Room need to be updated or replaced, but we do not have the funding to purchase new materials.
Students with Autism or Emotional Disturbance benefit academically, socially, and behaviorally from sensory input.
My Project
These materials requested will help to provide a soothing environment for students with autism and emotional disturbance. Students will use these items to self regulate and take a break from stressors in the classroom. Students will be able to relax, take a break, and be ready to return to task.
The materials I am requesting will be used in our Take 5 Sensory Room.
Larger items including the soft seats, hop-along balls, wobble chairs, and balance ball seats provide sensory input to students struggling with self regulation. These materials will benefit my students emotional and social development which will impact their academic success and help them to achieve their potentials.
