Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you remember what it was like the first time someone read you a story. My students are asking, "can you read to me?"
I would like to take the time to introduce you to my first grade class.
I have never had so many students eager to read, but lack the foundation to read on their own. Unfortunately my students have not had the opportunity to have stories read to them at home on a regular basis or hear basic sight words. Many come from broken homes where parents spend a lot of time trying to provide for the family leaving many of my students to take care of them selves or brothers and sisters having to play the role as mom and dad. We are a title one campus striving to push are students above and beyond. This year group is so eager to read but need more assistance than one teacher can give them.
My Project
Many of my students do not get the opportunity to hear stories read to them. With the number of students not being read to at home has made reading a harder task within the school to teach. I believe every child wants to hear stories read to them. I am asking that you help my students by reading a story to them. The TAG reader will give students the opportunity to hear stories and practice vocabulary that students do no hear often at home. Having the tag reader in the classroom will enhance students ability in reading and vocabulary giving them another resource to hear and guide them through becoming a successful reader.
This project is very important to my students in their journey to becoming confident and successful readers.
Their is nothing worse than hearing and seeing a older child or adult who can't read. Help me in making a better reader for tomorrow.
