Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My kindergarten students love to learn using technology. They can leap into phonics with these Tag Readers and Learn To Read Phonics sets!
I teach in a Title I, elementary school in Texas.
Over 90 percent of the students at my school are living in high-poverty and receive free or reduced lunch. There are 21 energetic, excited students in my class, ready to learn each day. I love exposing them to a variety of ways to learn, including through the use of a variety of technology.
My Project
We would love to have Tag Reader pens to practice phonics skills, including short and long vowels. With 2 Learn To Read Phonics sets, each student can practice with one of the books, at their own pace, with one of the five Tag Reader pens. This would be a wonderful center activity that students could do independently. It could also be used for reteaching students who need a little more repetition to remember their short and long vowel sounds. These pens would be used every day to reinforce important skills that are the foundation I'm building for my students to become great readers.
It's a challenge keeping 21 five and six years old engaged and motivated to learn.
I'm always looking for new ways to reach them, capture their attention, and reinforce key concepts. These Tag Readers and Learn To Read Phonics sets would be a great addition to my classroom and utilized for years to come!
