Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are special because they come with a myriad of knowledge, skills and experiences! Our school is considered a Title I, Level 4 school, with 100% of our students receiving free breakfast and lunch each day.

Our students this year will be a part of a new program focused on mentoring and advisory which will allow students to select thematic (technological and business) based courses with the option to enroll early college classes.

The supplies used in these projects will help my students expand on their knowledge, skills and experiences and help them get ready for the rest of their educational journey.

My Project

It's that time of year again! Back to school! I opened a donor's choose project two years ago that provided some great supplies and learning opportunities for my students. I used those supplies wisely and frugally and its time for some more basic classroom items for a new year, with new students!

This year we are implementing an aligned curriculum that has many various types of non fiction texts- the text students struggle with the most.

Many of these materials will be used in developing text comprehension strategies, literary circles, and longer, more developed compositions in writing!

All of our classrooms are completely inclusion- of all special education and language learners will be together. Golf pencils ensure that all of my students are able to participate in classroom instruction. New dry erase markers will be used on classroom white boards for brainstorming and cooperative collaboration reviews like "Numbered Heads". Spaces to take notes (post-its) and organizational tools (dividers, highlighters and index cards) will help keep students on track and engaged in their learning. For my classroom, page protectors are used to keep track of lessons and necessary reference handouts for each student.

As we are exploring new mentor-ships and advisory blocks, paper goods and materials such as cleaning wipes will ensure that my students are able to start their day with Breakfast in the Classroom with ease.
