My students are hungry to learn! They love hands-on activities that explore their creativity. They are ready for anything.
I teach in a very low-income area in California.
Many of the students come from families where one or both of their parents are farm workers. Many of their parents are not educated but want the best for their children. They are very supportive of the teacher! The area also contains a lot of kids in situations where there are a lot of mental health issues. The kids come with a lot of baggage, but the students are great and impressionable. Most have never left the neighborhood, so they are very excited to learn about other places and things. I love this group of kids! They need positive influences in their lives, and I am very excited to be one of those contributors. These kids are smart and need to be shown how to be successful and make learning fun!
Fine motor and social skills are extremely important items to focus on in elementary schools. We are the foundation for student learning and with your help, we can foster these skills.
My students need many opportunities to build their fine motor skills along with fostering their social skills.
Through fun and creative activities, the students become excited to practice through art, rather than through handwriting worksheets. Kinetic sand is an amazing product that allows the students to do this. It is also an opportunity for students to work collaboratively and creatively, while still strengthening their skills. Along with kinetic sand, the art of coloring is also an amazing super important! Students can use coloring books/art supplies to be creative along with the practice of holding writing materials to complete a task. These items will help my students practice in a very fun and engaging way.
