Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My fourth grade students come from diverse backgrounds and enrich our school community. Although there are socioeconomic struggles, the students and families work very hard to succeed in school. I enjoy learning different language phrases so my students can see that a diversity of languages is valued.

Covid-19 has impacted my students' abilities to fully access their learning in the past two years resulting in academic gaps.

My classroom is set up so that students can learn. With budget constraints, I am not always able to provide all the materials that are needed for the most successful outcomes during this pandemic.

My Project

I want my students to continue their math learning during the Covid pandemic, even when there are temporary school closures.

By providing these math materials, students will be able to use them both at school and at home to close the gaps they have experienced during this pandemic.

Students will use flash cards to practice the multiplication facts they don't know, while using the multiplication game to have fun while practicing with their peers or families, increasing their social-emotional growth. They will also be able to visualize equivalent fractions with the hands on fraction towers, and put the binders, pencils, and other school supplies to good use while addressing math gaps.
