This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Think back to your junior high math class. Now imagine not having textbooks or workbooks to take home.
My students are high achieving twelve and thirteen year olds who attend a magnet school in a rural area of the state.
These kids are self motivated and are the future leaders for our region. They have chosen to attend our school in order to participate in accelerated and rigorous courses.
My Project
Although our school is a magnet school, we also cater to a rural area and are Title I. Many of our students do not have access to a computer at home and are unable to research mathematical topics. Without textbooks or workbooks, the students are forced to receive all instruction in class. These resource books will allow students to take home and return study aids related to the new Common Core curriculum.
These highly motivated, intelligent students need your help to give them that extra push toward understanding the Common Core mathematics.
The students need more examples and practice problems to hone their skills and perform their best on standardized tests and beyond.
