Mrs. Johnson from Washington DC is requesting computers & tablets through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need tablets to develop and nurture their creativity and imagination.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My students come from various backgrounds and they each touch my heart a certain way. When the students walk into the art classroom, they get a sigh of relief from the stress of all that’s within their life. At my school, students really don’t have anything. The meals that are provided are sometimes the only food they receive on a everyday basis. The students at WEC express so much interest in art that I have created an art club for students to stay after school and express their creativity. The students work extremely hard daily to bring their creativity forward. Sometimes students get discouraged because what they draw does meet their expectations. My motto to my students is “What you like I love and what you dislike is still love?”
The student will have the ability to use self image to create and design their lives. In addition, it will help with accuracy in drawing/painting. As well as learning foundation for basic skills such as their colors, shapes, alphabets and physical animated movement. The tablets will be used during center/station rotations where a creative art project will be assigned on the tablet. The students will complete the project to pass to the next level. The tablets will asses children with special needs on how to apply various art techniques with a paint brush, writing tool, crayon. This will help student focuse on staying inside of the lines during painting and coloring activities. In addition learning that everything they do is considered art. The one on one with the tablets will help the young artist to learn about various important artist in the world. Also, how and what they do on a daily basis in the room is considered creative and noticed by others.
