Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I help to run an after school book check-out program. Students at my school are eager to learn to read, unfortunately they do not have easy access to reading materials at home.
Many of our students come from an economically disadvantaged home where there is a language other than English spoken.
Because of these disadvantages, they may not have the ability to go to the library to check out extra books. Also, they may not have internet access at home to digitally read books.
My Project
My students need newer tablets to write code for the Wonder Workshop Robots that we have. The tablets that are currently in my room can't run the software needed to code the newer robots.
The Kindle Fire Kids edition are amazingly fast and will be able to keep up with the kids as they are learning to write code and manipulate the robots.
Additionally, by having newer tablets in the room, the kids will be able to use different educational apps that are available. They will be able to practice what they need to for Math and ELA using these tablets and apps.
