My students need to have access to technology on a more consistent basis during the daily lessons. Having a few tablets in our computer center would increase access to technology that is expected in today's class.

My Students
My students are young early adolescents who are struggling with daily home, school and personal issues. They are a great group of children who just need a little TLC and someone who is fair to them.
From being told they would never amount to anything, being torn down with racial epithets and condescending talk, these children have given it their all and made it this far.
Throughout the school year, these children have worked tirelessly to make the grade. Many times they have fallen short, but just as many times they have risen to the occasion!
I am proud to be their teacher and am hoping that they will continue on the path to success and be the great young men and women I see in each and every one of them! I would like to be a part of propelling them into a promising future and enable them to have the tools necessary to survive whatever they may face in the world.
I know they can do it, they just need a little help and support to make it happen!
My Project
With the increasing need to supplement the core lesson objectives and to accommodate students who have a severe learning disability and those who are falling behind the learning curve, it is imperative that we find new ways to reach those who haven't benefitted from the routine ways of engaging in a lesson.
With tablets in our classroom, we can engage those students who have a comprehension deficit by using the text to speech feature along with downloadable audio books that will help students to feel independent in their learning, while receiving the necessary accommodations that are needed to help them narrow the learning gap.
As a teacher who is in charge of a class of 30 and more at one time, it is very difficult to reach every student, every day, during each and every lesson that is taught. When we break from the whole group lesson into individual or small group sessions, it would be a great help to have students get on a tablet and review the lesson at their leisure in case they missed something in the whole group session. I would be able to record the lesson and have it played back for them. It would also be able to be uploaded to Google Classroom for future reference for all students as well.
I am looking to make my classroom more progressive in that no one gets left behind for lack of supplies, access or engagement with necessary materials that would propel them into a greater learning experience.
We are asking for your support in creating a classroom that is accessible for all.
