This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach 1st grade at a Title 1 school in Fl. We attempt to use technology for many of our activities. As of now we have 3 desktop computers and 4 laptops. We do not keep the laptops all year due to the upper grades testing. My students also enjoy reading and taking AR tests. I would like to provide my students with tablets in our room. This will allow us to integrate technology in our lessons more. It will also give us access to more books and opportunities for AR tests.
My Project
My students are broken into six groups during small group time. While I am working with a group of students, the rest are independently (with their groups) working on different assignments. Fire Tablets would be an excellent addition to our rotation. We will use them for a listening center, sight word, vocabulary. They will work great with our math stations as well. Students are very technology savvy. It will decrease interruptions with my group. The earlier finishers will be able to use the tablets to read, take AR tests or get on our approved educational game sites without interrupting those who are already doing those centers. A nice bonus is that we can minimize the use of paper in the classroom as well.
