My students are amazing, caring, and eager for knowledge.
They are inquisitive and intelligent, taking in all that is around them.
Each of my students come from a very low socioeconomic background and do not have the access to technology. We have the highest rate of English language learners (ELLs) in the state and a high rate of special education students. Our school is 100% free breakfast and lunch (and dinner if students stay for the after-school program). They all deserve to have access to the same supplies, technology, and educational items that other schools have. With help, we can achieve this goal.
My Project
Our world is ever changing, and technology is quickly becoming the center of it. Most of my students do not have consistent access to technology and, once they get their hands on it, they aren't sure how to use it appropriately.
The funding of this project will not only allow students to use technology to LEARN, it will teach them safe technology skills.
Every day, the students have a literacy intervention block and a math intervention block where we rotate through centers. The Amazon Fire tablets will become a station, allowing students to use technology to practice their reading, writing, and math skills.
It is so important to set my students up for success, not just for this year, but for many years to come. The Amazon Fire tablets will help keep students knowledge of technology relevant, so they can be successful well after they leave my classroom.
