I teach in a low income school in the Mississippi Delta. In the area I teach, resources are extremely limited. In fact, there is not an actual allocated budget for my teaching area. We, (gifted teachers) rely on minimal supply fees, donations from other departments, and our own pockets.
My students are highly intelligent, creative, and inquisitive.
They deserve a chance to expand on their regular classroom learning. One of my goals this year is to provide my students with more STEM activities and a chance to really challenge their minds.
My Project
The tablets and Ipad that I am requesting will replace ones we lost during the Easter Sunday storm that completely destroyed our classroom. Our robots survived, but sadly, out tablets didn't. My students absolutely love the time they have programming and working with out Dash and Dot robots. STEM is an important part of our curriculum and the robots and tablets help in meeting those requirements.
The time spent using the tablets to program robots helps to increase my students' knowledge and experience with coding.
It also enhances their creativity and allows them to use their imaginations, which is essential in meeting some of our Gifted Outcomes.
