My students are special because they are diverse learners. We have students of multiple backgrounds and learning styles. Our class is composed of language learners, gifted and talented students and special education students.
The instruction I deliver is as differentiated as the diverse types of learners in the classroom.
Many of the students are from rural neighborhoods. Others are from apartments in the center of town. Their interests range from sports and athletics to agricultural activities such as the rodeo and showing animals.
My Project
Having a set of tablets will be an essential way to create various learning structures in my classroom. My hope is to create an atmosphere where students are using technology to create projects, research a variety of topics and explore other parts of the world. One example of how these tablets will be used is through writing stories, poems and biographies. Students will be able to create digital art and teach themselves how to code to design animations that will supplement their writing. Another way is for my students to explore what real-life careers are like through safe online communities. Students can participate in challenges that provide a hands-on approach to specific vocations.
As twenty-first century learners, my students will have the opportunity to research and create projects based on their individual interests using these tablets as an extension to the learning in my classroom.
Through these learning experiences, I believe my students will be eager to come to school everyday, be motivated to gain more knowledge and aspire to meet high expectations.
