This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Middle school students in my district who score proficient or higher on their state standardized tests are given the opportunity to take a high school-level language class in 7th and 8th grades. Many of these students do not have access to technology that would facilitate language-learning. By incorporating more technology into our French classroom, I am hoping to give the students the access to native texts and even native speakers of French, that will enable my students to become life-long language learners.
My Project
As a teacher, I know the impact that technology can have on the success of a student. I also realize that not all students have the means necessary to access this technology. My hope is that, through the use of Donorchoose.org, I am able to purchase 10 Amazon Fire Tablets for use in my middle school French classes. The purchase of these devices would allow my students to work with partners (and in some classes, individually) while using the technology to be exposed to native texts, create projects, and research the Francophone world and culture. Please consider making a donation to assist with this endeavor, and to put technology in the hands of our future leaders.
