My Students
Imagine only speaking fluently in your home language for all of your school year, then you are thrown into a 2nd Grade DLE class where one of teachers can only speak English. We move from learning letters to reading very quickly and manipulating math problems. We help students learn English while holding on and becoming literate in their own language as well.
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom.
All of our students on campus receive free and reduced-priced lunches. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
Our need for technology integration would benefit the students both in the classroom and in the real world!
My Project
Having five iPads in the classroom would increase student engagement and excitement for learning. I will download apps for various math practice skills for a math center and apps for reading such as Achieve 3000. The iPads will be used in small group, while group and even partner work. iPads would expose my students to a world of which they can only dream of.
iPads would also be beneficial for the app SEESAW, which allows students and parents to interact to see the current activities and what their children are learning; the app also allows the children to explain their thinking which is great for RTI.
iPads would allow me to challenge my highest learners and also reach my struggling learners.
