My students need Amazon Fire Tablets for hands-on, interactive learning in the classroom. Students will use these tablets for both individual learning, as well as whole group learning activities.
I have been blessed with 54 incredible students whose willingness to learn is outstanding. Many of them come from a single parent, low socioeconomic home and are provided with free lunch due to these financial circumstances. Due to the effects of Hurricane Harvey, many students are still displaced from their homes and without a routine lifestyle. Still, the issues they face outside of school do not affect their enthusiasm inside of the classroom.
I am committed to offering positive, exciting, hands-on learning experiences for my students to participate in.
They deserve the world, and through learning, I plan to give it to them. As soon as they enter the classroom every day, the focus is growth through literacy-based learning. Because of what my students experience outside of the classroom, many begin school without some of the basic skills that are usually picked up early in life. Through literacy-based learning, students are able to grasp a love of learning through reading- a skill that they will carry with them for the rest of their life. Hopefully, the positive experiences they have at school will allow them to pursue their education all the way through college and beyond!
My Project
Because of the circumstances surrounding the effects of Hurricane Harvey, many students have lost or haven't ever had accessibility to electronic-based interactive learning. Bringing tablets into the classroom would allow students to experience hands-on learning, while also interacting with teachers and peers in a positive, educational environment.
Though I cannot control their experiences away from school, I can control the positive environment in my classroom, and with your help, I can make sure they participate in compelling and fun lessons!
These tablets will allow me to create individual tutoring plans for my students. During small group time, students who are not working directly with me or in another group will have the opportunity to continue with one-on-one learning that will ultimately lead to growth and success! How great is that?!
