My amazing group of 13 students with intellectual disabilities come into school every morning with a bright smile and a positive attitude to tackle the day, no matter their circumstances. They love unconditionally and cheer for everyone. Many of my students come from low income homes and deal with struggles that would cause any student difficulty, but they have what it takes to overcome anything. Their pure joy and happiness is contagious as we transition throughout the school day as we see our peers in the hallways and cafeteria.
Earlier today, my Donors Choose project, Tablets for Teens, was fully funded. I am completely overwhelmed by the outpouring of generosity and by how quickly my project was funded, but I thought, why stop there?
If I am able to get five more tablets for my class, no student will be left unaccounted for.
Having a tablet for each student in my class would mean the world. For example, every student would be able to participate in whole group instruction without having to look on with a friend. My students could all participate in research projects, we could play games as a whole class, and their learning would never be compromised by a lack of materials!
