Do you know what it is like not to have access to basic technology when we live in a technology driven society?
We are a school of over 2100 students with limited technology access in the library. We only have 21 computers! This is not nearly enough to meet the demands of our tech savvy teens.
Our students love to read!
We want to expand upon that love of reading by expanding our delivery services. We will be able to download ebooks from the public library system that we do not have available for students in our catalog as well as those that are not available due to high demand. Students would be able to check out the nook, download the ebook they desire and be on their way to expanding their knowledge and imagination.
An electronic reading devise will help us reach all students - including those who have financial limitations. Not every household can afford a computer and have the ability to access our ebooks from home. This technology allows us to help bridge that financial divide.
The Nooks will also help us target those few reluctant readers who are technologically engaged, but not easily swayed by the written word on a printed page. We want to expand our arsenal to hook them into reading any way we can.
My Project
I am requesting 3 Nook tablets/cases to help enhance our library program and support the use of 21st century technology. We want to partner with our local public library system and allow as many students access to all formats of reading. Students will be able to access our eBooks as well as those found in the public library catalog. The possibilities are huge!
Help our library program expand its capabilities and provide our students with the technological tools necessary to be successful and create a lifelong love of reading as well as access to electronic information.
Not all students have access to technology at home. Many of our students come to the library so that they can have the opportunity to complete assignments, find authoritative information and gain access to the tools they need to be successful in the classroom. These 3 Nook tablets will help us provide the necessary tools for all students to achieve and succeed at our school.
Libraries of the 21st century need 21st century tools.
Information comes in many formats and our high school libraries should be able to support those formats. Help us provide access to all students to current, relevant and up-to-date information!
