Help me give my students take-home tablets to complete their homework, as many of them do not have permanent housing and resort to shelters with no access to technology.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are extremely talented students in dance, theater, music, and visual art. Unfortunately, for a few students, succeeding in academics as well as the arts becomes a struggle when dealing with life outside of school. The potential in these students is absolutely captivating.
As a science teacher in this school, I see the future engineers, astronomers, climatologists, and doctors in my classroom!
I just want to be able to help them succeed to their fullest ability with your help. The students that this project is geared towards are so humble, kind, and hard-working. These are students that really care about their grades and creating a better life for themselves and for their families.
My Project
A percentage of my school is living without permanent housing and the students resort to tiny living spaces or shelter locations. Most, if not all, of their assignments require internet access and the use of specific academic websites. I assign my homework on a website called castlelearning.com and too many times students have told me they do not do it because they do not have the technology outside of school. I am asking for ten Amazon Fire Tablets so my students can borrow them to take home and complete their work.
By offering these tablets to certain students, they will have 24/7 access to the academic websites they need in order to succeed in high school and progress in their future.
