Tablets for Students with Special Needs to Access Interactive Math
My students need tablets with internet access in order to access their online text book and online classrooms. Currently my students fight over the two desktop computers in my classroom.
My students are high school students who typically struggle in the general education classroom. All of my students are on individualized education plans which address their individual needs. These students have Specific Learning Disabilities in one or multiple areas (Reading, Math, Written Language). These students have individual goals that are monitored consistently to show their growth.
The students in my class require small group and one on one instruction with quick feedback to encourage them to continue learning.
Without this consistent feedback, my students struggle to stay motivated. The online resources provide tracking and immediate feedback to keep my students engaged in the learning process. My students really want to learn but require consistent feedback and attention to stay motivated.
My Project
These tablets will allow my students to access their interactive math curriculum individually. Currently, my students fight over the two desktops in the classroom to access our online math curriculum. These students struggle with math and are currently working at a 4th-6th grade level when they are in high school. The online resources allow students to get instant feedback and are far more engaging than paper and pencil activities. With these tablets, it would allow my students to develop their math skills and be a great monitoring system to show them their growth.
Additionally, my students in my study skills class could use these tablets to access all of their class web pages to complete their homework and online classroom activities.
These students currently must share the computers to complete their homework. These tablets would allow students to conduct research and complete homework in my classroom with the much-needed support rather than go to the public library without the support of a teacher. These tablets would allow students the access that they need to be successful in the 21st century classroom.
