My students are funny, lively, and love working together. They are packed 30 in a classroom, but make the most of it every day, build each other up, and help their peers learn. They come from a wide variety of backgrounds socioeconomically and in many other ways as well.
Growing up in the 21st century, they love to learn using technology and collaboration.
They impress me each class with their thoughtful questions and ideas and make our classroom a fun and inviting place to learn!
My Project
I am asking for help in purchasing 10 Fire tablets for my biology classroom. My school has close to 3,000 students, with a limited number of tablet and laptop carts to share among all of the classes. Students are encouraged to bring a device to access the Internet at school, but some of my students do not have a device to bring. My students often ask if they can do activities like Quizlet Live or online lab simulations, but it feels unfair to allow the students to do activities requiring a device when it brings attention to those who do not have one, as they have to ask a peer to share. With these 10 tablets, I hope to allow my students to participate in online activities that they love to do without any students feeling left out because of the lack of a device.
