My students need tablets to explore the world outside of the classroom without going out of the classroom and to increase their reading levels to get them where they need to be.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a teacher in a low-income and high poverty school district, my students are faced with many difficulties outside of school. I want to make it my job to give my students the best experience from the time they walk into my classroom until the time that they leave my classroom. Not only are they faced with being in a low income school district, a lot of my children were displaced and effected by Hurricane Harvey. Hurricane Harvey impacted my district and a lot of my kids are still having trouble coping because they are still living in places that are not their "home", yet they come to school with smiles on their faces because they like to be at school more than at home because it gives them a chance to forget about what's going on outside of school.
Being in a low-income area and school district a lot of my kids are not on grade level as writers, performers or readers.
Despite the disadvantage, my kids are bright! I see a lot of potential in my students and I want to help them succeed through life!
My Project
The use of technology has become so important to all kids and my kids are no different! They love technology and they love to use it! I want to change kids minds from "Social Studies is boring" to "Social Studies is exciting and I can't wait to get to that class!" I want them to be exciting to be learning about the world and how the world has so much to offer outside of the classroom!
Tablets will also be useful for my English Language Learners to be able to get more practice on the English language.
Work hard in trying to learn the language and I want to be another source to their success.
I just don't want it for that reason alone. My kids need help with reading and the more they do it, the better they will get it. I don't want them to just read about Social Studies, but I want them to read things that are interesting and by getting tablets, they will have more things to read!
I am here to help my students and having these tablets will get the kids excited about learning! By donating to our project, it will help our children on the road to success. It will also help decrease the amount of off-task behavior that happens within the classroom. Thanks in advance for your help and generosity!
