This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

One of the reasons why I love working with kids is because they are still untainted, for the most part, by the world we live in. My students are no exception. Although they are living in what's considered a "low-income" neighborhood, they are unaware of the disadvantages they face.

"Teacher, why can't we have that?" is a question I often hear from my students.

They see what school is like on TV and believe they can have the same, and I will try my best to level the playing field for them.

My Project

My school does not have enough tablets or devices for each student to have access to one at all times. Even though we are part of a district, devices are not equally distributed. Where I work, teachers sign up to have a device cart for one hour per week! Luckily, through DonorsChoose, my class has 20 devices but that is still not a class set.

My students take turns not using a device because there is not enough for everyone to use one at the same time.

We use the devices for reading, phonics, and math so it takes away from the students' learning to wait. We need just 4 more tablets to make a class set!
